Hi! Thank you for being curious. My name is Julie Kehaulani Scott and I grew up in Hawaii which is why I have a Hawaiian middle name. I am an adoptee, mother, and military spouse. I have an MA in Cross-Cultural Ministries and have worked with a non-profit supporting children, youth, and families navigating the challenges of foster care.
Adoption is not just something I experienced—it is something that shaped the way I see the world and God’s place in it. I feel called to use my voice to honor this story, to hold space for its complexity, and to bring awareness to the lifelong impacts of adoption for adoptees and birth parents. You can read about my story as a transracial adoptee growing up in a Christian family and how I later became an adoptive parent in Dew Drop From Heaven. I have had the privilege of sharing my testimony at conferences hosted by Lifeline Children’s Services and have also served in a focus group for the National Council For Adoption (NCFA) on the stigmas of being adopted.
My favorite place is at my desk, writing and drinking tea. You will often find me outdoors enjoying time in nature or doing routine stay-at-home-parent activities. I’m always up for a game of Cribbage and like to unwind by doing jigsaw puzzles. On rainy days, I eat homemade cookies with my husband and three kids.
